Genoa is peculiar. Straddling between mountains and coastline, sky and sea.
In Genoa, it can rain heavily on a Friday, drizzle a bit on Saturday, and then surprise you with glorious sunshine on Sunday, delivering an unexpected sporty weekend. Especially in October, when autumn’s unpredictability is at its peak.
This is exactly what happened during the weekend of October 19-20 at the Red Bull Cerro Abajo 2024, which made a stop in Genoa, the European Capital of Sport for 2024.
The December issue of Alvento magazine features a beautiful article capturing both the adventure with Red Bull and the love for this city. Here’s an excerpt:
The finish line is embraced by a cheering crowd, celebrating the champions and later asking them to autograph even pieces of signage. Finally, the race begins.
The first run is by Davide Cappello, a 20-year-old and the only Italian rider to qualify that morning. He’s both thrilled and deeply honored to open the race, so much so that after the Via Costa gap—a 9-meter jump soaring above the crowd—it’s clear he just wants to savor every moment. He warms up the audience and even high-fives fans leaning over the barriers.
We at seifuori want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who collaborated with us directly: the volunteer groups along the route, at every single doorway, and every person we interacted with. Additionally, we thank all the associations involved in preparing the circuit, the event, the safety measures, the marshals, and the media organization of something truly unique in the world.
For the first time in 20 years, Red Bull Cerro Abajo ventured beyond South America and landed in Europe.
And right here in Genoa, whose unique layout provided an engaging stage for the athletes and the thousands of spectators who crowded the highlights of the course: from the jumps to the high-speed sections, brushing past walls and doorways in a city of narrow alleys and the scent of the sea.
We also want to express this wish out loud: that this incredible event in our city is just the first of many.
Thank you, and until the next adventure.
